Welcome to Korea Cancer Center Hospital.

Department

Dermatology

The Department of Dermatology at the Korea Cancer Center Hospital began providing medical care when Director Gyeong Jin Lim was appointed in 1986. Since then, the department has been providing treatment not only for general skin diseases but also for skin cancer through close cooperation with the Department of Orthopedics, Department of Radiation Oncology, and Department of Hematology.

In 2005 and 2006, together with other university hospitals, it conducted a study to test the effect of “Holmium skin patch therapy” on skin cancer. Over the last 27 years, the percentage of malignant skin tumor patients among new outpatients has been 2.1%, which is twice that in university hospitals.

The department provides comprehensive medical service for not only eczema and skin allergies, skin infections caused by bacteria, viruses, molds, and parasites, and skin diseases caused by disorders in the immune system but also various other diseases manifested through skin symptoms, such as benign and malignant skin tumors.

Nowadays, the department is drawing attention as it provides appropriate treatment for patients suffering from dermographism and cholinergic urticaria accompanying severe pruritus.

Based on expertise built over the years, the Department of Dermatology offers professional care in the field of skin cancer and tumor treatment. It focuses as well on special care, such as laser therapy for pigmentary skin diseases.
