Otolaryngology

The Department of Otolaryngology is subdivided into the field for

ears, nose, and throat. In the field of ear treatment, the department handles ear-related diseases such as otitis media, bradyacusia, tinnitus, vertigo, and facial palsy; in the field of nose treatment, it diagnoses and treats nose-related diseases such as rhinitis, deviated nasal septum, sinusitis, and rhinoplasty. The head and neck surgery focuses on the treatment of various tumors and diseases occurring in the head and neck including the oral cavity, pharynx, thyroid, and salivary gland.

The Department of Otolaryngology at the Korea Cancer Center Hospital

Opened and started healthcare service in 1977. It has maintained its reputation by producing a number of outstanding medical personnel. In particular, it plays a leading and pivotal role in the innovative treatment of thyroid cancer among head and neck cancers. A team of head and neck surgery specialists, residents, and nurses treat approximately 20,000 outpatients and perform over 1,000 surgeries each year. Swiftly applying the latest surgical techniques such as endoscopic surgery and robot surgery, the department leads the trend in head and neck cancer treatment. In addition to performing radioisotope therapy since its first application to thyroid cancer treatment in 1975, the department is equipped with Korea’s largest radioisotope therapy room to handle the treatment of not only domestic but also international patients. It is cementing its status as the only medical institution specializing in radiotherapy in Korea.

Aiming to increase the satisfaction of patients suffering from not only cancer but also other diseases, the Department of Otolaryngology provides healthcare services specializing in various ear, nose, and neck-related fields by operating the Rhinoplasty Clinic, Deafness Clinic, and Vertigo Clinic.
