Neuropsychiatry

The Department of Neuropsychiatry studies and treats neurosis represented by anxiety and psychosis represented by delusion and hallucination.

While neurosis can be commonly experienced by anyone, psychosis is generally displayed by some patients suffering from mental diseases. Psychiatric treatment and consultation are ways of handling various mental problems and pain. In general, they help in not only anxiety disorder, depression, insomnia, somatic symptom disorder, stress, personality disorder including disorder in interpersonal relationships, pediatric and geriatric problems, and drug addiction but also other mental diseases such as schizophrenia and manic depression.

The Department of Neuropsychiatry at the Korea Cancer Center Hospital actively operates treatment programs along with comprehensive studies to improve the mental health of modern people and quality of life of cancer patients and their families.

In addition to drug therapy, mental therapy, and various social psychological programs, the department conducts clinical studies and provides professional care service in the areas of mental health of cancer patients, hospice palliative care, emergency radiotherapy, pediatric care, and geriatric care.

In particular, the Psycho-oncology Clinic, opened in 2005 to promote the mental health of cancer patients, was expanded and restructured to the Mental Health Center for Cancer Patients in 2011. Through the center, the department makes various efforts to improve the mental health and quality of life of not only general but also pediatric and geriatric cancer patients and their families. In fact, the center offers comprehensive care and assistance through a range of specialized and customized therapies and social psychological programs.

In addition to medical care, the Department of Neuropsychiatry provides education to general citizens and people in the medical field as well as training to professional medical personnel.
