The Department of Pediatrics at the Korea Cancer Center Hospital was opened in March 1976 when Director Baek Nyeon Ju took office. It has since played an important role in the treatment of pediatric cancers, such as leukemia, lymphoma, brain tumor, rhabdomyosarcoma, osteosarcoma, Ewing’s sarcoma, and retinoblastoma. In particular, the Department of Pediatrics has been a leader in the treatment of retinoblastoma and osteosarcoma.

With the Growth Clinic opened in 2003, the department has expanded excellent medical staff with specialists in the fields of infection control, respiratory allergies, and endocrinology since 2004. Accordingly, it also started the training of pediatric residents. In addition, having opened the Neurodevelopment Clinic in 2020, the Department of Pediatrics, together with competent therapists, has been striving for developmental test, language treatment, and treatment for developmental disorders of children in local communities.

Currently, medical staff consisting of Jung Sub Lim, Gun Ha Kim, and Jin Kyung Suh not only provide medical care but also produce excellent performances in research, such as winning external research contracts and publishing papers. In related fields, the department is playing a leading role in Korea.

The Department of Pediatrics aims to contribute to local community development by providing medical care service for pediatric endocrine and neural diseases concurrently with pediatric cancer treatment.
